The unprocessed, three-sided buckwheat seed has a thick, hard outer hull that must be mechanically removed before it's ready to eat which is the way it's sold. After the seed has been de-hulled, the inner seed or groat has a light brown or light green coloring and is so soft that it can be easily chewed. Ground, it can be used 100% in pancakes or mixed with wheat flour to make great tasting biscuits, muffins and breads. The seed can also be used in hot cereals and soups or boiled soft and eaten like rice. An amazing nutritious food. The storage life is not as long as other grains because of the essential oils in it. Try some in your emergency food storage.
Shelf Life: Should be stored in cool dark place- optimum condition is 60 degrees or less- for longer storage. Storing properly in our enameled cans and Super pail buckets, product may store 20+ years. Bulk products need to be repackaged for long term storage.

Directions: It is not a wheat so is gluten free. Pancakes and waffles are most common uses. May be cooked as a cereal or ground for baking purposes. As it contains no gluten it should be mixed with other flours to bake with.
