Brown Flax Seed

A brown flax seed that may be eaten in seed form or milled for baking. Flax seed is very high in omega-3 essential fatty acids. It's the omega 3s - "good" fats" - that researchers are looking at in terms of their possible effects on lowering cholesterol, stabilizing blood sugar, lowering the risk of breast, prostate, and colon cancers, and reducing the inflammation of arthritis, as well as the inflammation that accompanies certain illnesses such as Parkinson's disease and asthma. Flax seed has been around for more than 4,000 years, known even in the days of Hippocrates for its healthful benefits.

Brown flax seed may be added to dough for baking. It is recommended you use a coffee grinder or food processor to grind flax seed as the high oil content will cause some appliances to seize up. Makes great muffins, breads, and cereals. Healthy nutritional item to add to your emergency food storage. Flax is high in natural oils so it needs to be stored in a cool area and rotated.
