Ecological Threat Assessment- The rising global food insecurity threatening over 2 billion people world-wide in 2024. An additional 1.5 billion people are facing food insecurity by 2050, totaling 3.5 billion (nearly half of the world's population) according to the Ecological Threat Register.
- Nuclear armed Pakistan, India are among the threatened nations, as are entire regions threatened by civil unrest. 31 countries are included in the threat assessment.
- 5.4 billion people are threatened by high or extreme water stress by 2040. 2.7 billion are already under high or extreme water stress threat in 2024.
- Worsening food insecurity and competition over resources, increasing civil unrest and mass displacement, exposing developed countries to increased influxes of refugees.
- The United States is not immune from any of these threats.
- Global demand for food is expected to increase by 50% by 2050.
- Natural disasters, including temperatures and flooding are rising rapidly worldwide.
