A green split pea with a mild flavor and soft texture. It comes from the core of the whole green peas and cooks easily and quickly. They have nutrition values and long term storage that make them a great choice for food storage. Green split peas are the core of whole green peas. They do not need to be soaked before using. The skin was removed before splitting. This pea goes well in soups and casseroles. Shelf Life
Ingredients: Green split peas.
Directions: Rinse. For overnight soaking, cover each cup of peas with 3 cups water and let stand overnight or 12 hours. Rinse and cover with water. Bring to a boil and simmer about 1 hour. May use seasoned stock made from chicken, beef, ham or other meat. Chopped vegetables may be added if desired. Season as desired and serve.

Notes on buckets: Barometric pressure (elevation) can cause buckets to dent (concave or convex). Normally this is not a problem, buckets can be reshaped by removing the lid and pushing out any dents.
