Long grain white rice is a food staple in any diet. It can be used for main entrees, side dishes, cereals, and desserts. It is a low cost food item that is necessary for long term food storage.

Shelf Life
Ingredients: Long grain white rice enriched with iron, niacin, thiamine, and folate.
Directions: Rinse rice til water is clear. This helps get rid of any starch and impurities. Add 1 cup rice to 1 /34 cups cold water. More water (1/2 cup) for higher altitudes. May add 1 tbsp. margarine or butter and 1 tsp. salt. Cover with lid and bring to a boil. Lower heat and cook 15-20 minutes, keeping lid on and avoid stirring. Let stand 10 minutes and then fluff with fork before serving.
Add 1 cup rice to 2.5 cups cold water.

Notes on buckets: Barometric pressure (elevation) can cause buckets to dent (concave or convex). Normally this is not a problem, buckets can be reshaped by removing the lid and pushing out any dents.
